About the Help System

Lextranet contains a comprehensive help system that allows you to get help when you need it. The Lextranet help system opens when you click Help from the Site Navigator or when you click the Context Sensitive Help link.

Use the help system to find information about Lextranet's features, fields, and procedures. You can refer to Cartesian Products, Inc. web site for documentation about the CPC viewer.

Please note that Lextranet allows for a high degree of customization. Because of this, some features, functions, naming of fields, and areas of Lextranet may differ from what is contained in the help files. For more information about the case that you are accessing, please contact your Merrill Lextranet Case Manager.



When accessing the Lextranet Help System from the Site Navigator, the help system opens in a window containing two panes. The left pane includes a table of contents, an index, and a full-text search tab. The right pane of the help window displays the help topics.

You can click the button located at the top right portion of a help topic to hide the table of contents and view the selected topic full screen. To display the table of contents, click .

Using the Table of Contents

The table of contents contains books and pages . Books contain a group of related pages. A page is a single help topic. To view a topic, simply click the related page to open it in the right window pane. You can click to open a book and display the pages that it contains.

The Lextranet Help system includes a How To section which contains a list of procedures and a glossary that defines many of the terms contained with the help topics.

Using the Index

The index contains a list of indexed words. To find a topic using the index, click Index and type a few letters of a word in the index field or use the scroll bar to find a topic. Once you find the topic that you wish to view, click the hyperlink to display the topic in the right pane of the help window.

Using the Search Tab

The search tab allows you to search for a specific word or phrase contained in a topic. To use the search tab, click the Search tab and enter a word or phrase in the search field and press the Enter key to search for matches. The help system displays the results below the search field. Click any of the results to display the topic in the right pane of the help window.

Topics

Each topic in the help system contains one or more of the following buttons:

– Lists additional conceptual information about a page or feature.

– Lists related how to procedural topics. Each procedural topic consists of numbered steps that help you to complete a task. The How To section contains an alphabetical list of procedures.

– Lists a group of related topics.

In addition to the buttons, help topics contain hypertext links that open popup windows or other topics. The Lextranet help system displays hypertext links as green, underlined text.
