We are committed to providing the premier client experience. To that end, one of our primary design goals was to make Lextranet extremely reliable. We believe that we provide greater reliability and accountability for your data,taking the burden off your IT department. Here are some of the ways in which reliability and accountability are built into our systems:

Merrill Lextranet’s Servers are located at a secure high-speed Internet hosting facility
At Merrill Lextranet, we use the same hosting facility as a number of major banks and financial institutions. These institutions share our interest in absolute security. Few companies or law firms can match the bandwidth of our servers, which are located at a high security facility with multiple, redundant, very high speed Internet connections.

Redundant access to the Internet
All areas of the Internet connection for our servers are duplicated. These include multiple connections directly to the Internet backbone through different ISPs (Internet Service Providers).

Diesel generators are ready to supply backup power, should the public utility’s electricity fail
Our servers run on industrial battery-supplied electricity, kept charged from the public utility. Should the power utility fail, our server facility has redundant diesel generators to keep our servers going until the public utility’s blackout is repaired.

Multiple layers of security protect software, data and physical access to our servers
Our servers are probably safer than if they were located in your office. Only authorized personnel identified by photo ID have access to our server area, which is surrounded by locked steel cages. All physical visits to the server area are logged. Our servers sit behind multiple firewalls, and our software is kept up to date with the latest security patches. We watch for attempted intrusions and constantly reevaluate our system to make sure that the risk of unauthorized access is as low as possible. In addition, our servers are dedicated to Lextranet, which greatly reduces the risk of the intrusion attempts and security weaknesses by the users of other programs.

We do all upgrades and backups for you
Since all programs reside on our servers, you always have the benefit of our latest code, without having to install upgrades on your computers. Databases and other key information are backed up on a daily basis without a burden on your IT staff.

Lextranet was designed and built with “open source” technology
Lextranet was written using open source tools, allowing easy fixes and updates. We find these tools are more reliable and bug-free because of the open nature of their development process. By using these tools, we are able to provide our clients more dependable access to their case information.

We have many years’ experience designing and implementing litigation extranets
